Many of the advanced features such as master documents  haven't changed since 1.1. If you'd like a guide to advanced features, consider purchasing that book.

Training Materials
I have covered many topics, including advanced topics such as master documents and pivot tables, in my training materials.

Free OpenOffice.org 2 Guidebook Chapters

I'm delighted to announce that my OpenOffice.org 2 Guidebook has just been published!

To celebrate the publication (self-publication), I'd like to share some of the contents. The following links are to three of the chapters.

  • Creating and Formatting Tables covers the basics as well as advanced topics like complex border formatting, autowidth, Autoformats (a great timesaver), converting between tables and other formats, doing calculations in tables, sorting, automatic numeric formatting, and more.
  • Sorting and Filtering Spreadsheets covers standard sorting, sorting by multiple criteria and left to right, as well as a valuable tool for data entry or sorting, custom sort lists. Filtering, using the autofilter or the more powerful standard filter, is also included.
  • Creating Impress Master Pages (Backgrounds) covers the benefits of formatting presentations with master pages, as well as how to modify them, create them, and essential tips for preserving the newly created master pages. You’ll also read about how to apply header and footer information to different views in a presentation, and create templates from your master pages.

For more information, click here to see the table of contents, or click here to learn more about the book.

Templates and Files

Here are all the files you can use with the OpenOffice.org 2 Guidebook. Right-click on each link and choose to save the link target to your computer.

If you have a template you'd like to share, please email me, or post a comment with a link to your templates.

Any published document has its fair share of errors. If you find an error in the book, please post a comment here. I can't make any guarantees about when the corrections will be made, but I will do my best.

If you have a suggestion for a feature to be added, especially to an advanced book, please click here.

Suggestions Blog

If you have a suggestion for an advanced book or another type of book, please post a comment here. I'm not positive that there is a market for the book; you can see more content here with my training materials.
